Toby Collyer receives England U20s call-up
Toby Collyer has received his first call-up to the England Under-20s squad, and will join up with the Young Lions for games against Italy and Czech Republic.
His international selection is just reward for several months of strong development at Manchester United. Collyer made his senior debut in August’s Community Shield at Wembley against Manchester City, becoming the club's 251st Academy graduate, and his Premier League bow came three weeks later at home to Liverpool.
Toby has played and captained England’s youth teams in the past but this first call-up to this level is a testament to his continued progress.
England’s Elite League Squad face Italy at the Stadio Benito Stirpe in Frosinone on Thursday (16:00 BST) before travelling home to take on the Czechs in Doncaster on Monday 14 October (19:00 BST).
Collyer is one of a number of Academy players enjoying time with their national squads during the October break. Left-back Harry Amass — who was involved on Tour 2024, presented by Snapdragon — is with England’s Under-18s for a four-team tournament in Marbella.
Amass and his team-mates take on Sweden on Friday (15:00 BST) with the winners of that tie facing the victor of Ukraine versus Netherlands.
In-form striker Gabriele Biancheri is with Wales’ Under-19s squad, who play Italy twice, on Thursday and Sunday.
Winger James Scanlon has joined up with Gibraltar’s UEFA Nations League side, having netted his first senior international goal in September.
Good luck to all our young players involved with their national squads this October, including those below the Under-18 age group.
Meanwhile, our Under-21s remain in action, travelling to Forest Green Rovers on Wednesday night for our first game in the new National League Cup. Find out more information in the latest Academy Briefing, and subscribe to MUTV for live coverage, which begins at 18:55 BST.
